CranioSacral Therapy
"John Upledger
Technique and Training"
Tom Brooke B.S., L.M.T.

It is a natural therapy that works with the body, not against it. The central focus of this modality is the spinal column, cranium (head), sacrum (tailbone), and the dural tube that encases this osseous structure and contains the cerebral spinal fluid.
Very light touch is used to assess and correct cranial plate alignment, adhesions of dural tube to spine, and misalignment of the sacrum. Other techniques are used in combination with CranioSacral therapy to address the entire body, including myofascial release.
The origins of this therapy was developed by an osteopath named William G. Sutherland in the early 1930s. The CranioSacral therapy that we know today was pioneered and perfected by osteopathic physician John E. Upledger, a clinical researcher and professor of Biomechanics at Michigan State University in the 1970's.
